I must admit the first thing that caught my eye about this weeks guest was her name. I believe I was reading comments on an Instagram post and saw the name, Build Like A Chick. I was immediately intrigued and wanted to know what this was about. You see, I’m very impressed by women in the maker and builder community. Mainly because making and building things are usually a “mans thing.” Ashley Nielsen is a wife, mother of twins, and full time furniture builder living in Utah. Ashley started by refinishing furniture to make a few extra bucks. In the past five years, Ashley has become an incredible designer and builder by staying focused and learning from others in the woodworking community. Her Instagram following is pretty strong and that’s where she spends a lot of her social media time.
Ashley has done craft shows and markets but finds that most of her work now comes from word of mouth. Building is something that she really enjoys and she looks forward to the future and what it brings.
